Does God Give Money?
This question often sparks debate: Does God give physical money—raw cash? Some say yes, because God created everything, including the physical world. Others argue that God does not directly involve Himself in handing out money. But what does Scripture—and personal experience—reveal?
From my perspective and walk with God, I believe He can give physical money. While it’s not a common or daily occurrence, certain situations may warrant divine intervention—even in financial matters. Just like God provided food to the Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 16:4), or spoke through a donkey (Numbers 22:28), He can provide money when He chooses.
A Personal Testimony
Several years ago, my family was in a tough season. Business was failing, food was scarce, and hope seemed distant. Amid this hardship, an unfamiliar young evangelist visited and delivered a prophetic warning: I was resisting God's call on my life.
Convicted, I decided to obey and began preaching on buses. I used the little money I had to print evangelistic tracts and boarded a bus to the office where I planned to share the message. I only had enough money for a one-way trip. After preaching, I called a pastor friend, hoping for fare home. He initially agreed but later failed to follow through.
Disappointed—not just in my friend, but in God—I began walking home, murmuring in my heart. I remember thinking, "God, I obeyed You, and You couldn't even provide fare?" I told Him, "If You ever send anyone again, I’ll remind them You failed me."
But as I walked, I noticed wrappers and papers blowing in the wind. Then I heard a voice in my spirit say, “Stop.” I stopped. “Look at the ground,” the voice said again. Right under my left foot was the exact amount I needed for transport. Shocked, I heard the Lord whisper, “Take it. Is it enough? I am God. No one can tie My hands. I can send money with the wings of the wind.”
I stood in awe.
Biblical Insight
God is not limited in His methods. He fed Elijah using ravens (1 Kings 17:4-6). He brought water from a rock (Exodus 17:6). He multiplied oil for a widow (2 Kings 4:1–7). Why then do we doubt He can provide money if needed?
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” — Jeremiah 32:27
“I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea... I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:16,19 (NLT)
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.— Philippians 4:19
Conclusion
Yes, God can give money. Not always. Not routinely. But when the situation calls for it, the God of all creation can move mountains, split seas—and yes, drop money on the road—just to show He is mindful of you.
So trust Him, not just for your salvation, but also for your provision. He is Jehovah Jireh—the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14).
God bless you!
